The Annual Christmas Dinner was held on December 5, 2024, at the
COVE. The meal was provided by Shoelaces Catering of New Vienna,
Ohio.

Tables were decorated with black tablecloths and chalk was set out
allowing guests to have fun with some “chalkboard” messages and
drawings. Table settings also included some lanterns and old
McGuffey Readers. Yearbooks and school memorabilia from the
museum were brought to the COVE for viewing.

Each year, three of our nine trustees have board terms that expire. This
year that included Tom Mitchell, Virginia Vandervort, and Jim
Mongold. It was also announced that trustee Vicki Mongold had
decided to resign from her position and trustee Jim Mongold would not
be seeking a renewal of his term, leaving four openings. Nominations
were opened from the floor. Tom Mitchell and Virginia Vandervort
both received nominations for another term as trustees and were
approved by a vote of members in attendance for the annual meeting.
This still left two unfilled positions for the board at the end of the
evening.

The program for the evening featured the history of East Clinton
School District, including surrounding community schools prior to
consolidation. The PowerPoint program of school photos was presented
by Trustee Peggy Dunn. Guests shared brief school memories about
school staff, activities, buildings and other school-related topics. SHS
member Sharon Roberts provided attendees with a homemade
Christmas stocking to take home as a memento of the evening as the
night concluded.
